VX220 Turbo

VX220 Turbo

2.0 16v Turbo (Z20LET) VX220 finished in Coral Blue Pearlescent with a blue soft top roof.

This car is a One Owner car from new, registered on 26 September 2003 (53) and has covered just over 25,000 miles, has a full service history and is in all but immaculate showroom condition throughout. You will struggle to find a better example of this car. Standard features include ABS, Driver’s Airbag and Alloy Wheels.

The car also benefits from the addition of Paintshield stone chip protection film which as the pictures show is all but invisible. It has been fitted across the front clam and nose area, edges of the turbo ‘ears’, the door mirrors and the headlights for protection from stone damage, from which these cars can suffer very badly.

The car has been garaged overnight for its entire life when not in use.  It has not spent any time outdoors over the winters, and has spent the last 12 months off road (SORNed) and garaged.

The car has been regularly detailed (washed, clayed, polished) and the paintwork has been regularly waxed, as the pictures show.

This car was specified with the following factory fitted options:
Coral Blue Pearlescent Paint
Blue Hood/Soft Top
Remote Central Locking
Leather Seats, Door Cards and Centre Console
Blaupunkt Los Angeles MP72 Stereo Radio/CD/MP3 Player – Security Coded
Additional Front Tweeter Speakers
Passenger Side Footrest
VX220 Branded Floor Mats
Rear Stowage Net

Additional modifications to the vehicle are as follows:

Courtenay Sport Bespoke ECU Remap to 293 bhp and 335 lb ft torque
Full Stainess Steel Milltek Sports Exhaust System
Pro Alloy Charge Cooler System
Pro Alloy Enlarged Alloy Water Radiator
VXR (Astra Z20LEH) Turbo Charger
Uprated Actuator
Lightweight 5.6kg Billet Steel Flywheel

16 Groove Brake Discs All Round
Mintex M1144 Brake Pads All Round
Uprated Polyurethane Engine Mounts Front and Rear
Carbon Fibre Dash Panels and Door Escutcheons
Genuine VXR220 Matt Black Petrol Filler Cap and Surround
Boost Gauge
Colour Coded Rocker Cover
Matt Black (Painted) Windscreen Surround
Matt Black Opel Blitz (removal of the V grille allows more cold air through to the water radiators)
Paintshield Stonechip Protection Film over the front clam, headlight and door mirrors

The cost of getting a standard VX220 Turbo to this specification would be in excess of £8,000

This has to be one of the best examples of a VX220 Turbo around. You will struggle to find a cleaner, better looked after example. The car will have a new 12 Month MOT Test prior to sale, will be serviced and have the cambelt changed.

Both keys and remote key fobs are present, as is the security code card for the car, the book pack with full service history and previous MOT Test certificates and Tax Discs, the stereo front case and the original stereo SD security card. Private Plate is to be transferred off the car at time of sale.

Ryan McLeod’s Racer Industries team from Australia brought their Holden Astra 2.0  Turbo over to the UK for the Brit Car 24 Hour Race 2011 held at Silverstone 30 September – 2 October.

The car based upon the 3 door Astra Z20LEL has had a complete engine rebuild and runs a Garrett Turbo set up with Motec engine management. A full roll cage, race seat and harnesses, coilover suspension, uprated brakes and Team Dynamics wheels complete the package.

Having already completed the Dubai 24 hour race in January this year, the car had undergone a few changes and ran at Barcelona a week ealier unfortuantely suffering an engine bay fire due to overheating wiring. The team of 5 drivers  for Britcar consisted of  McLeod, Walshn Camilleri, Kaye and Joe Girling, well known to us from the Production Toring Car Championship.

The Astra was prepared in Australia and is fitted with several key components supplied to the team by Courtenay Sport including a Courtenay Sport Astra VXR Full Height Intercooler, Courtenay Sport Cast Exhaust Manifold for GT turbo, Courtenay Klasen High Flow Inlet Manifold, Courtenay High Fow Plenum, Race Cera-Metallic Clutch, Billet Steel Flywheel, Astra VXR Enlarged Water Radiator, additional brake cooling ducts and Courtenay Sport Silicone Hoses.

After an eventful 24 hours racing, the car finished P11 out of 57; Congratulations Guys.

Race Winning, Track Proven, Road Friendly
  • Courtenay Sport and Adrian Churchill Win 2011 Title
  • Successful Defence – Back to Back Champions 2010 and 2011
  • Astra VXR Race Car Finishes Season Strongly

Courtenay Sport along with Adrian Churchill have become the 2011 Dunlop Production Touring Car Champions taking the title in a modified Vauxhall Astra VXR.

The success comes after a very competitive final weekend’s racing at Croft, where the team finished the season with 3 podiums; a 3rd, 2nd and a Race Win, to round off the season. Adrian Churchill was said to be ‘Delighted’ as he took the championship with one race to go, ultimately winning by a clear 32 points.

After winning the 2010 title in only the company’s first full season of race support, the Courtenay Sport backed Astra VXR wearing number one for the 2011 season, retained the title, completing a successful title defence in a very competitive field, with back to back title wins. Reliability and consistency has been the key to the 2011 season with the Astra VXR. finishing every single race. Courtenay Sport’s MD Jon Shield added ‘We’ve been pushed hard this season, right up to the final round, and this year’s brilliant result reflects all the hard work put in by the whole team’.

Courtenay Sport would like to thank all the team sponsors for their support during 2011, including KW Suspension, Turbo Technics, Recaro, Piper Exhausts and Churchill Motors who all share our success. Additionally thanks must go to the whole team for all their efforts and hard work during the season and to our many supporters.
