We have recently revised our Astra and Zafria VXR intercooler pipework, after requests from customers, to improve upon an already excellent design. From its existing design, the complete kit has been tested and proven to in excess of 420bhp (the intercooler core is good for 600bhp) with the intercooler utilising 60mm pipework from the turbo (the moment we can step it up from the OE 50mm turbo outlet we do) to the intercooler 60mm inlet. The intercooler outlet was 50mm, and stepped up to 60mm by the start of the OE map sensor pipe which we made use of in our original kit.

Saturday 26th March marked the start of the new Production Touring Car Trophy (PTCT) with the opening rounds at Silverstone Circuit, using the new full GP circuit.

After some positive pre-season testing the field was assembled for qualification, with Adrian’s car now wearing Number 1. New 2011 rules have allowed for changed to be made to suspension bushes (if required) along with the introduction of slick tyres to improve grip still further over the previous Direzza tyres.

With qualification under way, the full GP circuit is a long long lap, however the top 6 cars all put their fastest qualifying times in on lap 3; the pole time was 2:24.290 set by car number 1 some 2.66 seconds ahead of Carnaby’s Astra VXR, Cook’s Megane was 3rd, Bensley’s Astra VXR 4th and Gary Duckman’s Seat completed the top 5.

We have a low mileage set of Recaro Leather Seats for sale from an Astra VXR. They are heated and include the side airbags and are in excellent condition and very clean. Both the front seats and the rear seats are available as a complete set.

Good condition leather seats have been known to sell for up to £1000 for a complete set, but we are loooking for sensible offers around £This interior has now been sold.

over just a 3″ (76mm) cat back exhaust system.

Had an Astra VXR in today, for an additional exhaust upgrade.

The car had previously been to us, not many weeks ago, for an ecu remap and rolling set up, having already had our 3″ (76mm) Cat back exhaust system fitted but running a standard pre-cat and main cat set up.

Our customer asked how to get further improvements out of his car and we suggested the addition of our 3″ (76mm) exhaust front section (straight through downpipe and cat), which removes the pre cat completely and utilises a motorsport main catalyst (all still UK MOT emissions friendly), making a full system.

Once the front exhaust section was fitted and the map altered on the rolling road, the differences are clear………..

Bear in mind, this car already had our 76mm cat back system fitted, so we were only adding the first half of the exhaust system, but the graph shows how restrictive the standard pre-cat and main cat are.

Gains across the rev range are: torque 20-30 lb ft, power 10-20 bhp and at 6,300 rpm a massive 30 bhp gain.

What’s more it completely transforms the car on the road.

Had another Astra 1.9 SRi CDTi (150PS) in on the rolling road today.

What a fantastic car and engine combination. An ecu remap resulted in nice and safe 185 bhp with 330 lb ft torque; more than enough to trade blows with an Astra VXR! Plus 50 miles per gallon.

A remapped Astra H CDTi SRi (with a rear ARB and DAP spring set) has got to be the best cross-country hack around at the moment. Great chassis, plenty of go and it will leave your fuel card (credit card) in your wallet for that little bit longer!!

The start of the race season is fast approaching (the first round is in 5 weeks time!) as this delivery pallet shows!

A customer asked for his Astra VXR to have a run up on our rolling road the other day, as he had recently bought it and was curious about the power and torque output of the car which was running a full 2.5″ Milltek exhaust system and an off the shelf ecu flash.

The ecu reflash had been carried out by an authorised dealer however it had not been check on a rolling road (as the installer did not have one).

A few of you may be aware that we have acquired another race car for the forthcoming season. The car is a former Triple 8 Race Engineering prepared Astra VXR Chassis No 001, that previously ran in the Dunlop Sport Maxx Production Cup.

Over the winter months we have set about carrying out a full and thorough overhaul of the car in preparation for the 2011 Dunlop Production Touring Car Trophy. Read more

We had a VX220 Turbo booked in the other week as the customer had reported that the car seemed to be holding back on track. He thought it might be a fuelling issue and asked us to carry out a health check on the rolling road, datalog the ecu to see what the current map was doing and report back.

The car was running a ‘Stage 2′ ecu remap and has a full 2.5″ exhaust system. After our initial datalogging rolling road session we received a bit of a shock when we plotted the results ……..
