Brands Hatch :: :: August 15th and 16th ...... |

Race One :: :: Starting from 5th on the grid after a hard qualifying session with maximum ballast on board, Adrian was in 3rd place after the end of lap 1. Bensley had no ballast on board and having qualified in 3rd made off into the lead and once Adrian had found a way past the Nissan 370z of Chris Ward started to post some faster times than the car ahead gaining lap by lap. On lap 11, a hard charging Adrian went for a gap that by the time he had arrived in it had been closed by Bensley and unfortunately contact was inevitable with the incident causing Bensley to slip back a few places. Gary Duckman in his Seat Leon and the very fast Nissans of Ward and Currie battled for the other places. Sadly Currie’s Nissan did not finish stopping on lap 20 and despite a close race behind Adrian crossed the line in the lead. Having apologised to Bensley after the race, he was subsequently given a penalty resulting in a 4th place finish behind Bensley in 3rd. In Class B, Kevin George put in a great performance to win his class ahead of Andrey Magiy’s Mini Cooper S. Race Two :: :: With ballast being swapped around due to the 4th place finish, Adrian got off to a great start making up a place straight away. Duckman’s Seat made off into the lead, followed by Chris Ward in the Nissan 370z, which was finding fantastic pace at Brands. Ward got past Duckman on lap 2 and along the start finish straight on lap 4 Adrian slipped past Duckman for 2nd with Bensley settled in 4th. Adrian could do nothing about the Nissan’s speed and settled into a rhythm to take second. (This would result in full points for the championship due to guest driver’s unable to score points.) Weidner (Focus ST), Carnaby (Astra VXR), Malone (Seat Leon) and Kerry (BMW) battled it out for the other places in Class A for many laps. After Duckman sadly crashed out with a brake issue on lap 14, Bensley inherited 3rd place whilst place swapping lower down the order resulted in Malone finishing ahead of Weidner, Carnaby and Kerry. In Class B Kevin George put on a great performance again taking fastest lap and Class B win, ahead of Witt and Issatt. Sadly the Mini Cooper S of Magiy crashed at Clark Curve on lap 3, leaving the boys and girls in the Lohen team some rectification work to do before race 3. Race Three :: :: Reverse grid saw Adrian start from 6th (7 again being the magic number that was drawn. It has been popular this season!) on the outside of the track. A confident start off the line saw places made up into Paddock Hill Bend and then along the Cooper Straight (back straight) and into Surtees for the first time Adrian took the lead. The first few laps saw Currie make up places from the back of the grid and Ward in the other Nissan reeling in Adrian’s Astra VXR. The remaining class A places were being fought for between Carnaby, Weidner, Malone and Benlsey. On lap 10 Ward had caught Adrian as because no points were at stake Adrian sensibly let the faster Nissan through. In the mid field Bensley having not had the best of starts, made his way up from 7th on lap 1 to 5th on lap 3 but then slipped back to 7th but battled with the mid field cars. A hard charging Currie from the back of the field was 3rd by lap 7 and continued to chase down Adrian. Carnaby, Malone and Bensley fought throughout the race with Bensley taking 4th getting Malone on lap 15 and finally past Carnaby’s Astra VXR on lap 21 to take 4th place. Adrian managed to keep the fast Nissan of Currie behind him finishing 2nd and gaining maximum points after Ward won the race having romped away. In Class B Kevin George completed a hat trick of wins and took another fastest lap and is finishing strongly in latter part of the season. |
