We can install Superchips remaps to many others makes of vehicles - not just Vauxhall/Opel ! |
| We are Superchips Modem Dealers, which means we have a direct modem link to Superchips, allowing us to download chip programs instantly. We can also make minor adjustments, if required, to suit an individual engine's requirements. This allows the procedure to be carried out within a day in our own workshops. What is a 'Superchip' and how will it benefit my car? Basically all modern fuel injected cars use an on-board computer called an ECU (Electronic Control Unit) to control the fuel delivery and/or ignition timing. This replaces conventional carburettors and mechanically controlled distributors. The program for your particular engine is held in memory on a chip. This program can be read by the computer but cannot normally be altered. A 'Superchip' looks similar to the original, but contains a modified program or 'map' which optimises the fuel and ignition information for improved performance. So why didn't the manufacturers do it in the first place? The manufacturers have to make many compromises when writing this program. They must allow for fuel economy requirements, the very worst grades of fuel being used and for the car going for months without proper servicing. If you are prepared to have your car serviced in accordance with the manufacturers specifications and use a good quality fuel then there is great potential for optimising the software by re-mapping the ecu. We offer Superchip upgrades for all makes and most popular models of cars - not just Vauxhall/Opel. A Superchip remap will typically give a power and torque increase of up to 10% on a normally aspirated car and also improve the response and smooth out any 'flat spots' in the rev band. On a turbo car the increases are much more dramatic - 35% more torque and 20% more power are typical. On a diesel turbo the potential is even greater with up to 30% more power and 40% more torque available! Another benefit of remapping a car's ecu is an improvement in fuel consumption (under 'normal' driving) as the car does not have to be driven as hard for the same results and due to the ecu optimisation fuel consumption often improves.
