For the Corsa E VXR intercooler, we looked hard at the market to build an intercooler in-line with what the vast majority of customers will be looking for, after all its perhaps pointless building a 500bhp intercooler for a man who is only ever going to be running 300 bhp! With this in mind We needed a cooler that was capable of 330- 350 bhp, was competitive in the market, whilst not sacrificing on flow or efficiency, therefore we needed the UK’s premier intercooler design and manufacturer Pro Alloy to design build it.

Within the design brief it was clear that the principle value of the kit needed to be in the core fortunately the factory hose route is good with the hoses being capable of flowing 360+ bhp, we designed the cooler end tanks using specially machined ends to accept the standard factory couplings as it made no sense to put a lower spec core in for the sake of some pretty coloured hoses!

The cooler mounts pick up on existing factory bolt holes to reduce both fitting kit and fitting times, and we have equipped the front of the core with fully contoured airflow guides to minimise side and lower air wash utilising as much of the air from the bumper aperture as possible.

Here are some core specs.

Firstly, a comparison between the surface areas. This is purely the core face measured by tube length multiplied by height:

Increased surface area over OE Vauxhall Cooler: 73.4%

Next up the internal port openings of the tubes on both units to give an individual port area. Then multiplied this figure by the tube length to give each tube volume, then multiplied by the number of live tubes. This gives you the complete internal volume of the air path within the core:

Increase over OE Vauxhall Cooler: 30%

The results have been outstanding with both gains in power and torque, our test car showing a gain of 14bhp with back to back runs being far more consistent.

Can be finished in raw alloy or coated black with or without Pro logo
