With the Generation 2 Turbo Hyundai have done much more than simply tweak the compressor and exhaust wheels, it is a complete re think, the manifold and exhaust housings are much larger and the turbo rotation direction has been reversed for improved flow through the exhaust manifold and exhaust housing. The compressor and exhaust wheels are larger in size and the inlet on the compressor housing has increased in size from 53 to 56 mm which means that the bolt on 90degree alloy inlet casting now matches it in size removing the previous 1.5mm step thus smoothing the air transition up to the compressor wheel.

IMPORTANT NOTES WHEN FITTING A GEN 2 TURBO TO A GEN 1 CAR
The rigid alloy boost pipe that bolts onto the turbo and snakes down to the bottom of the engine bay has a bracket on it, the generation 2 turbo shifts the orientation slightly, so this bracket does not align to its mounting point on the gearbox. Without this bracket in place under both acceleration and deceleration as the engine rocks back and forth the pipe will apply leverage to the compressor housing. The compressor housing is V band mounted to the turbo core and seals with an expansion washer, the un-bracketed boost pipe will twist the compressor housing and potentially over time cause contact between to compressor wheel and cover damaging the turbocharger.
We have made an adaption bracket that secures the pipe back to the original fixing point to stop this. Also in the kit are 2 spacers and and additional fixings to lower the undertray slightly so the hot boost pipe leading to the intercooler clears the under tray.
